Future Tech Leaders – American MakerSpace Kits in Indian Classrooms

Aarna Sen (VIII F) and Shrutakirti Chatterjee (VIII D) of Garden High School participated in a STEM engagement programme hosted by the American Center, Kolkata. This initiative introduces U.S. MakerSpace STEM kits to Indian classrooms through hands-on activities that encourage innovation, creativity and problem-solving abilities. The students worked with these kits under the guidance of educators and U.S. resource persons and were able to explore practical applications of science, technology and engineering concepts.
The programme included a range of engaging activities such as creating automatic street lamps, banana bongos, fire alarm circuits, surveyor’s wheels, two-speed fans, simple LED/propeller circuits, and super flying saucers.
Students also explored innovation by transforming everyday objects into computer input devices such as cardboard guitars, vegetable pianos and smart music systems.
