Workshop on ‘Knowing Climate Change’

A workshop titled ‘Knowing Climate Change’ was organized by Scottish Church College in collaboration with the TERI School of Advanced Studies, New Delhi and SHER, a non-profit organization promoting education, empowerment and sustainable development in rural India. The workshop was attended by teams from 28 reputed schools of Kolkata. Each team comprised a student and a teacher from the participating schools.

The speakers were Dr. Ranjana Roy Chowdhury (Head of the Department of Natural and Applied Science, TERI), Mr. Debal Roy (Retired wildlife official of West Bengal), Dr. Amitava Roy, (Professor of Scottish Church College), Mr. Jayanta Basu (Environmental Journalist) and Mr. Ratul Ghosh (Scholar of TERI). The workshop addressed the adverse effects of harmful greenhouse gases and presented measures to reduce the emissions. There was a discussion on various kinds of instruments used to identify and quantify the pollutants present in the air and the application of Artificial Intelligence to prevent this Climate Change.
